Cosmo is Northstar's mascot and your personal guide on your financial journey.
Where did Cosmo come from?
Cosmo is inspired by a real cat! When our team first started building Northstar, they worked out of coffee shops in San Francisco and would frequent a nearby convenience store for lunch and snacks. When it came time to pay, it was difficult to withdraw money from the ATM because there was always a cat sleeping on it!
The cat loved the warmth the ATM provided, so if you went to withdraw money, he would sometimes swat at your hand. Our team appreciated that the cat was trying to keep people from spending too much, and thought he was great at budgeting! Before we knew it Cosmo was created by our design team and found his way into different parts of our branding.
What does Cosmo do?
While the real Cosmo sticks to budgeting, the Cosmo you see in Northstar helps guide users on their financial journey, helping them track their progress toward major financial goals.
Users can also ask Cosmo questions about their employer provided benefits within Northstar, as Cosmo is now powered by AI.
You may also see Cosmo pop up in emails about product updates or upcoming Money Talk sessions. And of course, Cosmo helps our Stars (Northstar employees) celebrate milestones and holidays!
